I met Loretta after viewing her whimsical work in a gallery in Ione, Ca. I fell in love with her twisted little buildings and vivid happy colors. Someone told me she was having a show over the weekend so I went to meet her. Well, we became good friends (to me anyway) Her paintings evoke such happy feelings. It is amazing the way she can reach inside her head where she has all these amazing stories about where and how she grew up and splash them onto the canvas is such a unique way - You can not help but smile when you view her work. She herself, is always smiling and soft spoken and has the most interesting stories and when one pops into her head she paints it! She just pulls it out of her head and presents it to us for our pleasure. There is a wonderful story behind every single painting Loretta paints. You can never have a sad day as long as you have a Loretta Armstrong painting to look at. Her paintings touch something deep in our hearts and make us smile with fond memories. If you haven't seen her work in person, you really must visit the many galleries in around the Sierra foothills and the surrounding valley, you will more than likely find her work. And for sure don't miss her show in Folsom.
